Guardians of the galaxy is a sci-fi action, comedy, superhero film, and the 10th installment in the marvel cinematic universe (MCU). The movie provides comedic charm, with multiple laughs and touching moments. The film is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper, as our main cast and a great addition to the MCU family.

The film has many scenes that will leave audiences with joy. The talented funny Chris Pratt, well known for the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, brings his comedic charm and quirkiness through his character as Peter Quill, an orphaned earthling adopted by Ravager Yondu, portrayed by CSI's Michael Rooker. Rocket Raccoon voiced by the fantastic Bradley Cooper brings the laughs with some over-the-top performances and savage moments to other members of the crew. Former WWE Wrestler Dave Bautista plays Drax brings his ridiculous one-liners and not understanding metaphorical languages. Groot is voiced by Fast And Furious very own Vin Diesel, where only the 3 words “I am Groot” appear to be in his vocabulary (and specifically in that order)

Visionary director James Gunn uses a wide variety of songs from the 70s throughout the film. We see in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 that his mother, Meredith, says to Quill, “You’re so like your daddy. You even look like him. And he was an angel, composed outta pure light”. The description of Peter’s father Ego is near accurate since he’s a celestial as described as an “angel” by Meredith.

Moreover, on the planet Morag when Quill uses his history scanner there is a scene with a little girl and a dog. As it turns out it was James Gunn’s dog, Dr. Wesley Von Spears who also made a cameo in volume 2. Quill’s iconic face mask is the same technology used by the Kree that Carol Danvers uses in Captain Marvel. Quill also mentions a scuffle he had with a Kree girl (not Carol) when she tried to rip out his thorax.

On Morag with a close-up shot with the orb, there's no denying a slight nod to parallel similarities with Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark to steal a treasured item. To which Rhodey references in the endgame. Later, in the guardians’ film during a scene in Kyln, Quill said, “So this orb has a real shiny blue suitcase Ark of the Covenant Maltese Falcon sort of vibe”, which is a reference to famous movie MacGuffins like in the Lost Ark.

Peter Quill’s ship called the Milano is a reference to his crush, Alyssa Milano.
In the ship we also see a troll doll, the same troll doll used to trick Yondu when he gives him the orb to troll him. The Ravagers’ uniform has a patch flame symbol, which is the logo of the Guardians in the comics. We also see in the film that Yondu’s Yaka arrow he controls via whistling, to which the film adapted this from his archery skills in the comics.
Throughout the film, you will see different locations, along with some coordinates under each location name. There is a huge easter egg reference that undergoes this by James Gunn. When these coordinates were decoded it translate to “This is mom’s cancer” in the Dark Aster, “This isn’t real” in the Kyln, and “Meredith Quill X” in Knowhere. These references must have a connection with Peter’s mother as Meredith Quill’s secret.

A solid first debut into the MCU from James Gunn, and a worthy contestant of best 10 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies of all time.
