A “Fantastic” Villain Hinted in Moon Knight!

Our first official trailer for Moon Knight is finally here. Unfortunately for Marc Spector, doom is coming to his life- and to the larger MCU.

Marvel Studios have built a reputation of using subtle easter eggs to build towards a larger universe. Let’s not forget;

Captain America’s shield in Iron Man, and Iron Man 2.

Thor’s hammer in Iron Man 2.

Black Panther debuting in Civil War.

Fisk returning in Hawkeye.

Daredevil returning in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Any decision that Marvel Studios makes, with even the tiniest of easter eggs/cameos, is done with the purpose of building those characters/story arcs in future MCU properties, as shown by their history. Follow this logic, and it’s easy to get extremely excited for the future of the MCU: because that’s potentially Victor Von Doom’s name on the box behind Spector.

Timing is imperative here. It’s no coincidence that a Dr. Doom easter egg is being teased right now, especially with the recent leaks and rumors (sources: MyTimeToShineHello, MCUGeeks confidential connections) of Fantastic Four casting and story updates (John Krasinski as Reed Richards as a variant in MoM). Marvel knows what they’re doing.

After all, don’t you remember the teases of Tobey and Andrew in the NWH promotional material? Who’s to say that this isn’t history repeating itself?

That being said, I highly doubt that the show will focus on introducing new MCU characters that do not tie directly to the Moon Knight. Chances are that this is simply a bus, owned by a company of Victor Von Doom, that Spector uses to get away from Arthur Harrow’s mercenaries.

I prefer this, as opposed to having Fantastic Four characters show up in a substantial manner, especially when they will have their own movie directed by Jon Watts. Over-reliance on connectivity will doom Moon Knight.

And as much as I love how connected the MCU is, what makes Moon Knight glow like a full moon is its own mythology and psychological tone. For now, I want to see what the Knight is like, without any other heroes.
