As part of the day long event Disney+ Day, Disney just announced a brand-new follow up to the 1992 animated X-Men series in the form of Marvel Studios’ X-Men ‘97.

The series is described as both an all-new original series and as a set of ‘’all-new episodes’’. The original show ended in 1996 after 5 seasons and a ‘’new season’’ seems to be what’s more plausible. Maybe akin to what Star Wars : The Clone Wars did with it’s 7th and last season.

Perhaps what is more intriguing is the mention of Marvel Studios. Is the series now canonically part of the MCU? Is that what will introduce the mutants to the current marvel cinematic universe? They could also very well go the Marvel Studios’ What if...? way and make it an animated show set in the multiverse, only to propoerly introduce mutants to the main continuity later.

Either way, find out when Marvel Studios’ X-Men ‘97 slashes it’s way onto Disney+ sometimes in 2023.
