Well, that didn’t last long. Disney and Scarlett Johansson have moved swiftly on from their lawsuit as Kevin Feige has confirmed that Black Widow herself is working on a “non-Black Widow” related MCU project. It is currently unclear what the focus and medium of the project are. Johansson, who most recently starred in her long-delayed solo movie (Check out our full review here.) , was honored with the American Cinematheque Award at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday.
At the event, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, stated, “We are already working with Scarlett on another non-Black Widow related top-secret Marvel Studios project with her as a producer.” The actress was the 35th recipient of the award and many of her MCU co stars were present at the show.
The obvious narrative around the announcement has been the lawsuit filed against Disney by the actress’ lawyers. Problems surrounding the release of Black Widow on Disney+ forced Johansson to take action against Marvel’s parent company but the two parties settled the breach of contract lawsuit in relatively quick succession.
Shortly after the agreement, Johansson released a statement stating that she was happy about settling the legal battle and from the looks of it, MCU fans will see the fruits of the agreement sooner than anticipated.
This secret project is not Johansson’s first entry as a producer, she was also credited as an Executive Producer for the Black Widow film. Speaking at the award show, Feige said, “she is a very, very smart producer.” Johansson was Marvel’s first actor-producer and played an important role in bringing director Cate Shortland to the project.
Whatever the project is, MCU fans will be eagerly awaiting ScarJo’s return to the MCU! What project do you think she is working on?
